You’ve seen him protecting Asgard. You’ve seen him pilot the Prometheus. You’ve even seen him menace Captain Kirk. And you can’t wait to see a super-powered version of him take on Hobbs and Shaw. But have you seen Idris Elba play a manny?
The trailer for Netflix’s comedy series Turn Up Charlie has hit the internet, featuring Elba playing a DJ named Charlie, who has to become a nanny to further his career.
Utilizing Elba’s real life DJ skills, Turn Up Charlie focuses on Charlie, a struggling DJ who lives in his mother’s house, who is given a final chance at success when he becomes a many to his famous bet friend’s daughter, Gabby (Frankie Hervey). And she doesn’t play nice.
Elba co-created the series with Gary Reich, which was given a straight-to-series order featuring eight episodes which will all drop on March 15, which is also Arrested Development day (yay)!

Elba actually started his career as a DJ in East London before becoming a stage, TV, and film actor. Interestingly enough, he returned to his DJ roots last year in London and New York. He will even be performing at the upcoming Coachlla music festival in April. What a talented fella’.
