We all knew that Avengers: Endgame would be huge, but now Bloomberg is reporting what to expect for opening weekend domestic gross.
Ya’ll ready for this?
Bloomberg reports that Researcher Exhibitor Relations has estimated Avengers: Endgame will open with a $282 million haul in North America alone. Wowzers!
For comparison, here is the current list of biggest weekend openings ever:
- Avengers: Infinity War – $258 million
- Star Wars: The Force Awakens – $248 million
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi – $220 million
- Jurassic World – $209 million
Jeff Brock, the researcher’s senior analyst, said in an email to Bloomberg:
“Infinity War left audiences with a cinematic cliffhanger…The only thing that could really affect the opening weekend would be a running time that exceeded three hours, which has yet to be confirmed by Disney.”
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, 2019 could finally be the year where a Marvel Cinematic Universe film outgrosses a Star Wars Trilogy film, with Episode IX coming out in December (Solo doesn’t count, though it was easily beaten by Avengers: Infinity War).
Though we are over a month away from April 26, the release of Endgame, I would be surprised if the film doesn’t become the highest opening film of all time.
Do you believe Avengers: Endgame can hit $282 million opening weekend, or is this figure absurd? Let us know in the comment section below!
