Big changes may be coming to Marvel Comics. No, it has nothing to do with a new event comic or movie coming out. (Which they have both in spades.) According to the New York Post, it involves Ike Perlmutter coming out of the shadows as Marvel CEO to join the Trump Administration as an aide to Veteran’s Affairs.

Ike and his wife Laura have a long history of philanthropy in the medical field. As the article in the Post mentions, they have contributed significant sums of money to university hospitals, such as the New York School of Medicine in New York.

Taking on a position like this would likely involve Ike handing the reins of CEO of Marvel to someone else. What that will mean for projects like Inhumans or the relationship between Marvel and 20th Century Fox, only time will tell. As it stands, Ike Perlmutter, despite his personality quirks, is one of the reasons Marvel Comics is around today. Who knows if we would have projects like Ms. Marvel or Spider-Man with Miles Morales if the company had gone bankrupt in the 1990’s. To say it will be the end of an era is an understatement.
