Improvements That Could Be Made In The Witcher 4

The Witcher 4 is quickly coming together, with developers releasing several updates in an attempt to keep fans interested in the saga. Some of the notable developments we know about already include Ciri, who is shifting to become a protagonist. The game is set to follow her on her journey as she attempts to become a professional monster slayer, which is going to give players a new perspective on life as a Witcher.

Deeper Role-Playing Choices

The game developers CDPR are known for offering meaningful choices, but they could easily take it one step further. In The Witcher 4, it would be great to see the more trivial decisions having a bigger impact across the game world. NPCs and questlines could also be more dynamic, with even more playable characters. With Ciri being the lead, it would be very interesting to see if it’s possible to customize the character, including her skills, combat style, or even background.

Speaking of combat, expanded combat variety would go a long way in the new game. Having more complex magic systems, and more synergy between combat styles would help with enemy-specific tactics. This would help to keep combat fresh, rather than it being a game of button-mashing. If the hunt for monsters could become more unpredictable, that would also add a lot of suspense, making it more interesting, especially given the hyped dynamic open world and new game engine.

Revamping Gwent

No good Witcher game would be complete without Gwent. Developers should bring it back, with the inclusion of multiplayer tournaments and an in-game economy. Having the option to compete against other players online would also be a very welcome in-game feature. Even though there is an official Gwent card game app, building this more into the game would be very desirable for fans. It may be that the game also adds tournaments and events that take place in real time. Players could then work their way through the ranks, a bit like the World Series of Poker. There’s a free app for that too, that developers can take inspiration from. In this WSOP app review, it’s detailed that players have the opportunity to win virtual WSOP bracelets and rings, with bonus chips available. Incorporating elements like this would mix the game of Gwent up, with the option to win unique cards, limited releases, and more.

The ability to unlock new playable factions, as you work your way through the ranks could also be interesting. This is especially the case if game creators take from other unexplored regions from the Witcher universe, including the Korath Desert or Zerrikania. Not only would this expand the diversity of the cards that you can play with, it could even make Gwent into a fully-fledged game variant, that is huge not only in the Witcher universe but outside of it as well. This is already being explored with the release of the official Gwent app, but there’s still so much untapped potential ready to be explored.
