A couple weeks back, audiences were treated to the first teaser trailer for the anticipated Incredibles 2. After well over a decade of waiting to see what these characters were up to, we finally got out chance, as short as it was. Luckily EW is here, and with them, they bring fresh quotes from the talent involved regarding the superhero sequel.

In the first Incredibles flick, we saw Bob go through a bit of a midlife crisis that led to him, and the rest of his family, into the adventure of a lifetime. With the sequel, it looks like things will shift in a decidedly more Elastigirl-centric direction. In this film, Elastigirl is off saving the world, whereas Mr. Incredible is at home dealing with family life “in the family’s sleek new hideout headquarters.”

Here’s what actress Holly Hunter has to day:

“Helen’s appetite for adventure comes to the fore. Whereas before, she was driven to become Mrs. Incredible out of necessity, where she went into it to save her husband, I think this time she really meets her own ambition head-on. The ambition of being an adventure is something that we get to explore…

“[Elastigirl has] a real incredible sense of competitiveness and ambition. She throws down the gauntlet in this one. It’s so much fun to see a woman luxuriating in those two arenas, because women have for so many generations been brought up to not be ambitious or to not be competitive, and it’s fun to see Helen basking in those two arenas in much the same way that we give men license to do.”

But what adventure will bring out the Incredibles family once again? That remains to be seen. In all honesty, some of the best stuff from that first film was the at-home stuff, so I’d personally be okay with them focusing more on that than the big threat — but you know that’s stuff coming, whether we want it or not.

EW also released a first image from the film.  CLICK HERE to check it out! It’s nothing super special, but it does show a real advancement in the technology since the first one. What foe is this family facing down? Given that it takes place immediately after the first one, it can be the Mole Man, but given that Jack-Jack wasn’t in a stroller at the time, we highly doubt that.
