There is no short supply of Indiana Jones 5 rumors of late. The latest rumbling comes via a tweet from Discussing Film who reports that the fedora-wearing archeologist’s fifth outing is set to roll cameras April 2020 in London. Take it with a grain of salt, though, as an official word has yet to be announced; but that doesn’t stop us from speculating.

Indy 5’s script has been in development for quite some time now, with it first being drafted by Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’s scribe David Koepp, then Solo: A Star Wars Story’s Jon Kasdan, and ultimately This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman coming on board. It’s clear Disney/Lucasfilm want to get this one right after the last installment seemed to be rather controversial. April makes sense, as it would be around the time Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker would be arriving on VOD and Blu-ray as well as around Star Wars Celebration 2020 which might allow for a title announcement or cast video like they had at San Diego Comic-Con back in 2007.
Next year also begins the first three-year gap we’ve had between Star Wars films since 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With Star Wars taking a sabbatical, one can imagine Lucasfilm will be shifting its focus to their other legendary franchise to fill the void. That being said, what is in store for our intrepid adventurer in this Disney-era of Lucasfilm is a mystery; but one thing is certain, and that is that this will be Harrison Ford and Steven Speilberg’s last crack of the whip.
Who knows, maybe we will even get some sort of official announcement at this month’s D23 Expo. LRM will be in attendance so we will, as always, keep you up to date.
