Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will have over 3 hours of cutscenes, plus we get some cool teases in a recent interview. MachineGames’ creative director Axel Torvenius and design director Jens Andersson sat down for a chat with MinnMax. You can catch the full interview below, (though it is filled with too much unfunny nonsense for my tastes). However, there were some genuine questions asked and some interesting answers given.
Torvenius when asked how much cutscenes were in the game said it was roughly 3 hours 40-45 minutes in total. Which is more than the length of a movie, though expected from a narrative driven game like this. The pair also confirmed the storyline takes place across around two weeks of Indy’s life in 1937. All the locations a player goes to will be revisit-able. Indy will also have many disguises he can wear as they are collected throughout the story.
One really cool feature of the game was also discussed. Namely that when you are ‘killed’ you get the chance to crawl towards Indy’s hat. If you reach it in time, you are back in the fight. That really is a nice touch for this game and fits with the tone of the movies.

The developers were also asked in what context the boulder scene shown in trailers will appear, a flashback, or a new event? They would not comment on where and when those scenes appear. We shall have to wait and see. As for Stealth sections, it was confirmed there will be no insta-fail scenarios in this game. Player agency to decide how to approach the game is something they worked hard to build in.
Finally the upcoming DLC was briefly mentioned. Understandably details were slim when the main game is not even yet out. However, they seemed to confirm that it will not be a continuation of the Great Circle story, but connected to it in some way. I.e. there may be connections but the DLC is a new story.
Honestly the more I see of this game, the more I’m keen to try it out. Though, I will probably stick to easier difficulties just to enjoy the ride.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle releases on Xbox Series X/S and PC on December 9 and will be on Game Pass day one. PlayStation owners will have to wait till Spring, 2025 to get the game.
