It’s a painfully funny way to look at stereotypes.

HBO Home Entertainment is set to release the first season of INSECURE on Blu-ray and DVD tomorrow.

The comedy series is created, written and starring Issa Rae (THE MISADVENTURES OF AWKWARD BLACK GIRL).

The series look at the honest depiction of a modern-day African-American woman and the everyday challenges she faces. It follows the best friends Issa (Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji) navigating in the professional and person environment of Los Angeles as they try to overcome all stereotypes of two black women.

It explores the black female experience in a subtle, witting and authentic way, while pulling their lives together.

The Blu-ray and DVD will inclue a free digital download copy. It features all eight episodes, along with bonus content. There is an exclusive and extended look at Insecure characters’ favorite reality TV show “Conjugal Visits.”

Jay Ellis (Lawrence) and Lisa Joyce (Frieda) also stars in the series. The series is executive produced by showrunner Prentice Penny and director Melina Matsoukas helmed three of the episodes. The other directors included Michael Rotenberg, Dave Becky and Jonathan Berry.
