You could accuse the Marvel Cinematic Universe for being a lot of things, but stagnant isn’t really one of those. While we spent 22 movies with much of the core cast being retained, the emotional arcs they’ve gone through have been monumental. Thor has basically lost everything and has mourned accordingly, Cap and Tony essentially went through a reverse arc, Black Widow gained a family and protected it, and Hawkeye rediscovered a darker side of his personality.
And, of course, we have Spider-Man. In Spider-Man: Homecoming, he learned the importance of what it means to be a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, but in Avengers: Endgame, he lost an important father figure in Tony Stark. In that first Spidey film, the man was very much his mentor and guiding star. In Spider-Man: Far From Home, we’ll get to see how his death has truly impacted him, and that’s something that’s reflected in the new poster, which was revealed with the following caption via the official Twitter account for the movie.

“I don’t think Tony would have done what he did, if he didn’t know you were going to be here after he was gone.”
The image itself is very reminiscent of one of the first shots in the recent trailer, though it isn’t an exact snapshot. It does feel a tad lazy, but it’s not like we won’t be getting another poster. More importantly, it really does convey what appears to be the emotional throughline of the story, which looks to be a story revolving around grief.
