The era of fantasy is almost upon us. Carnival Row’s first season has aired, His Dark Materials’ first season is underway, and I’m currently enjoying early screeners of the first five episodes of The Witcher (full review to come on December 20). It’s clear that fantasy is hitting streaming services in a big way in the years to come, and one big name in fantasy is the card game Magic: The Gathering.
Perhaps even more exciting is that The Russo Brothers are executive producing and writers Henry Gilroy (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Jose Molina (The Tick) are scribing this animated project, really giving it a unique flavor to all the other stuff out there. But when is it coming?
Epic Stream noticed a tentative date pop up on Netflix: 2021.
It’s worth noting that this date has seemingly been taken down, as when I looked into it, it was no longer there. With that in mind, it’s worth taking into account that this could very well be that this is a fake, but it’s worth mentioning nonetheless.
Of course, 2021 is still incredibly far away, and that timeframe still allows for the show to hit in about two years or so, which isn’t exactly close. Still, it’s something, right?
