A few months ago we saw something horrible as it related to the Sonic the Hedgehog film. We saw the result of what must have been either hundreds of people afraid to say “this is bad” or a couple of people refusing to listen to those saying “this is bad”… Either way, the design of Sonic himself was indeed, bad.

After the release of some promotional images and a trailer, fans of the blue blur let their disappointment be known across the inter-webs. Thankfully the director, Jeff Fowler, and others listened and promised to redesign the character. Its been a few months, but we may have an image of that redesign thanks to a Twitter user:
Breaking: A #SonicMovie standee featuring a newly redesigned Sonic was spotted at a undetermined location. This story is developing. #SonicNews pic.twitter.com/ymcgSYjg4a

This alleged standee from a theater shows a much more game accurate version of Sonic and should put some fans at ease. Personally, I didn’t care for anything from the story presented by the trailer. However, there’s always hope that the film could be surprisingly fun. I didn’t have a lot of faith in Pokemon: Detective Pikachu but that turned out to be one of the most adorably fun films I have seen in a long time.
Are you happy with this redesign? Does it give you hope for the film? Let us know in the comments below!
