Remakes and reboots are popular these days. They’ve actually been popular in Hollywood for quite a while, though some films are on a no remake list. One of those films has to be 1987’s The Princess Bride, right? For most of us the answer is yes, but it seems there are some in Hollywood who would disagree.
While speaking to Variety about The Princess Bride executive producer Norman Lear, Sony Pictures CEO and chairman Tony Vinciquerra said he has folks interested in remaking the classic film, you can check out what he had to say below.
“We have so many people coming to us saying, ‘We want to remake this show or that show. Very famous people whose names I won’t use, but they want to redo ‘The Princess Bride.'”

It would be extremely difficult, almost impossible for Hollywood to capture just the right level of campiness to due justice to the original film. 2007’s Stardust took a shot at it, and while I think they made a valiant effort, they still came up short.
Stars of the original film Cary Elwes tweeted out his opinion on the situation.
There’s a shortage of perfect movies in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one. https://t.co/5N8Q3P2e5G

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who is married to Christoher Guest, who played one of the villains in Princess Bride also had something to say, check it out below.
Oh really? Well, I married the six fingered man, obviously why we have stayed together for 35 years and there is only ONE The Princess Bride and it’s William Goldman and @robreiner’s. “Life is pain highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something!” https://t.co/hv33UIZKN3

I’m not saying I wouldn’t watch it, if the powers that be decided to remake this classic film, but they better be sure they have a winner, because the backlash would certainly be a sight to behold.
