It looks like the casting gods are smiling on the production of IT: Chapter 2, the continuation of last year’s surprise hit, IT.
On the heels of that pleasant surprise, there were countless sites speculating as to who could sign on to play the adult versions of the kids. In the case of Beverly Marsh, played by Sophia Lillis in the first film, most turned to Jessica Chastain as the natural pick for her adult counterpart.

Variety is now reporting that Chastain is in talks to take on the role. Given her previous work with helmer Andy Muschietti, it isn’t exactly a huge surprise that she’s in talks (Muschietti even said she was his top choice), but it’s an incredibly welcome one, as Chastain is an amazing talent.
And speaking of Muschietti, while the director is fully expected to return for IT: Chapter 2, it doesn’t look like they have ironed out the specifics of his return. Given that production would need to hit fairly soon in order to hit its September 2019 release date, we expect we’ll get an update on that soon enough. With IT being the huge success it was under Muschietti’s guidance, the studio would be fools not to hire him again.
