Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman film has been a particularly frustrating beast to follow. It’s necessarily because I feel like we NEED another Batman film ASAP (It’s only been a handful of years since The Dark Knight Rises came out and I was satisfied with what I saw in Batman v Superman), but considering how long it’s been in the works it’s just been one of those thorns in our sides that manages to consistently take steps backward in its development.
Well, you can add another tally to the “two steps backwards” column. Sorta. For years now, it’s been generally agreed upon that the title of the upcoming film would be The Batman. It’s a title we’ve known about here on the site for God knows how long, and it’s also a title Ben Affleck used when referring to it back when he was on as director. Now, according to a listing posted from Super Bro Movies contributor Daniel Richtman, it may have taken a step backwards in its title.

RELATED – Rumor: Matt Reeves’ The Batman Will Feature More Than The Penguin
As you can see, according to this listing, it is no longer The Batman, but simply an untitled Batman project. As a fan of the name The Batman, I am kind of bummed, but honestly, we’ve been calling it The Batman for so long, it kinda feels like we already got a film called that. So sure, why not go ahead and change it up. Plus, given that Matt Reeves has rewritten the story completely, why not give it a different title?
It is worth noting that it’s still very possible that it’ll be called The Batman, but don’t be surprised if that isn’t necessarily the case. So what do you think? What would you call the film, assuming that the Penguin is indeed the main villain? Let us know your thoughts down below!
