IT Star Jack Dylan Grazer Joins DC’s Shazam!

Who says scary, murderous clowns can’t lead to great things?

Deadline reports that Jack Dylan Grazer has joined the cast of Shazam!, following his turn as young Eddie Kaspbrak in Warner Bros’ smash hit, IT. And what an obvious choice, as Eddie was a fan favorite, and easily the most adorable kid in IT. (Sorry, Finn Wolfhard, but you do have Stranger Things, buddy.)

Already cast in the film are Zachary Levi as Shazam and Asher Angel as Billy Batson, a teen who transforms into the adult superhero by uttering the word “Shazam!”

Grazer is set to play Freddy, Batson’s best friend and the only one who knows his secret. It should be an easy character transition for Grazer; from Eddie to Freddy!

David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) is directing the DC film from a script by Henrey Gayden (Earth To Echo) and Darren Lemke (Turbo, Goosebumps). Production is expected to begin early next year, making Shazam! the next film in the DC Extended Universe, following December 2018’s Aquaman. We’ll see Wonder Woman 2 after Shazam! in November 2019.

Shazam! is currently in pre-production, with filming slated to begin early in 2018.
