So far, Amazon has released a few clips and teasers for their upcoming Jack Ryan series (which is based on the series of Tom Clancy novels), but one important person who’s been missing from these teasers has been Jack Ryan himself, played by John Krasinski.

In a new teaser from EW, we finally get that. The clip opens in what looks to be a Middle Eastern country. Two men are tased on the streets and pulled into a tent. Awaiting them is a clean-shaven Jack Ryan who tells them, “All of the accounts link back to this phone. We know who you are.”

Admittedly, those of us who mostly know Krasinski from his work as Jim Halpert in The Office will have a hard time separating him from that role, initially. At least in 13 Hours he had a beard to hide behind, but in this new series, we’ll need to be thoroughly brought in by his performance.

Of course, the character Jack Ryan is no stranger to adaptations. There have been five films and four actors who have portrayed the CIA analyst up until this point since 1990, and with that in mind, it’s about time he made the jump to TV. The last actor to portray the character was Chris Pine in the divisive film, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, a film the studio was clearly pushing to start a franchise.

We’ll see if this new take on the material will better serve the story and character.

Jack Ryan will debut in 2018 on Amazon.
