Jack Ryan Showrunner Steps Down Ahead Of Season 3

I can’t say that I’ve ever been a huge fan of Tom Clancy. I can’t even say I’ve been a huge fan of past iterations of Jack Ryan (though I’ve enjoyed a movie here or there). But I can say I thoroughly enjoyed Season 1 of Amazon Prime Video’s new take on the character in the John Krasinski-starring series Jack Ryan, which premiered in the second half of last year on the streaming service.

So I was happy to know at the time that the show as already on deck for another season of premium TV, and I was even happier to hear that it was picked up for a third season. Since this move came ahead of the second season’s release, it seemed indicative of that season’s quality so far. So while all signs seem to be pointing to more good stuff ahead, there is one little blip of bad news.

According to THR, showrunner Carlton Cuse will be stepping away from day-to-day duties on the series ahead of the third season. He will still be on board as an executive producer, but it looks like as far as the real hands-on work, that’ll be left for others to take on. Is this bad news? Well, given how solid that first season was, I am sad to see such a clear talent leave (he also worked on LOST and Bates Motel), but I’m sure as executive producer, he’ll make sure it’s left in capable hands.
