Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan character may have had a long and healthy life on the big screen with films like The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum of All Fears, but 2014’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit seemed to prove that its options for expansion on the medium were limited in terms of public interest.
Now, they’ve done a complete 180 on the book series, deciding to adapt them into a full TV series on Amazon Prime video. Given the nature of the books and the character, it’s likely a much better medium, and it can also work to develop the actual character of Jack Ryan like never before.
The Super Bowl is set to be a haven for all sorts of TV shows and films, and among those is the upcoming Jack Ryan TV series, which will show off a new trailer. However, in advance of the big game, they released it online for the more web-savvy consumers to enjoy.
The official synopsis for Jack Ryan is below:
“When CIA analyst Jack Ryan stumbles upon a suspicious series of bank transfers his search for answers pulls him from the safety of his desk job and catapults him into a deadly game of cat and mouse throughout Europe and the Middle East, with a rising terrorist figurehead preparing for a massive attack against the US and her allies.”
