By this point, it’s probably easy to see that MGM and EON would like to get on with the next James Bond movie as soon as possible. Recent reports have stated that James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, and his return are all but inevitable. This came on the heels of of a Bond 25 release date, and immediately following, we heard tales of rumored frontrunners to direct the flick, as well as rumors surrounding Craig hopping on for TWO more James Bond movies.
So is it true? Well, it turns out we need to slow down a bit. While all of this could be in MGM and EON’s plans for the future, it sounds like they still haven’t locked down the most important aspect of the franchise yet — James Bond. Speaking with Magic 1067 (via ScreenRant), actor Daniel Craig denied that he’s officially signed on.
“No decision has been made at the moment, there’s a lot of noise out there and nothing official has been confirmed and I’m not, like, holding out for more money or doing anything like that. It’s just all very personal decisions to be made at the moment… I know they’re desperate to get going and I would in theory love to do it, but there is no decision, uh, just yet.”
Those who were doubtful of Craig returning to the fold may find themselves incredibly disappointed by his statements. We can’t forget that Craig very publicly stated in the past that he’d rather “slash” his wrists then do another Bond movie at the time. That statement was made following the thick of production, and after hearing rumors of him supposedly clashing with director Sam Mendes, he may very well be waiting to see who they hire to helm the picture.
That being said, we can’t neglect to mention that Craig is trying his best to remember the struggles of Spectre. With that production a couple years in the past, it may be hard for him to remember the difficult time he had, and before he sells his soul for yet another movie, it may be best for him to consider how he felt by the end of that production.
So what do you think? Is Craig getting cold feet? Will he sign on to Bond after all? Let us know your thoughts down below!
