Finally, we have answers! As we know, Avengers: Infinity War left the Guardians of the Galaxy a bit…castrated of its core members? And by core members, I mean all but Rocket Raccoon (and I guess Nebula, if she counts). Gamora was killed by Thanos partway through the film and the rest disintegrated after the Mad Titan snapped his fingers.
Given that we will be getting a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020, it led many (myself included) to believe that this moment didn’t really have the weight they were trying to give it. With this film around the corner, they pretty much confirmed that everyone would be coming back. However, in recent weeks, the Avengers: Infinity War directors and star Chris Pratt have been playing up the possibility that the upcoming Marvel films could be prequels, including 2020’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

However, that film’s writer-director, James Gunn, just took to Twitter to set the record straight, flat-out saying, “It will be after [Avengers: Infinity War].”
So there you have it. But what does this mean for the Guardians themselves? While I’m almost positive most will return for the threequel, despite the disintegration, it is possible that, should they really get ballsy, that the film can show Rocket and Nebula forming a new team. However, based on previous comments about Pratt returning for the film, that seems unlikely.
What do you think of Gunn’s comments, and who do you expect to return for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Let us know your thoughts down below!
