Two DC stories today, first that James Gunn debunks the recent casting rumors for the Brainiac role in Man of Tomorrow. Secondly we have the rumored role ScarJo (Scarlett Johansson) will play in The Batman Part II.
As you know it has been rumored, reliably, that the villain of Man of Tomorrow, the follow up to Superman is Brainiac. James Gunn has not ever confirmed this, however he also has never denied it. That leads us to casting rumors, and to be sure, DC Studios are casting for this role. However Gunn seems baffled by some of the recent rumors about who the front runners are. One recent rumor named long time Gunn colleague Dave Bautista. It seems it was his friendship with Bautista that prompted Gunn to speak up.
Here’s what Gunn said on Threads,
“Oh boy. Let’s forget a moment I’ve never said Brainiac was in the movie. I freaking love Dave Bautista and I have many ideas for who he could play in the DCU. But he and I have never discussed a role in Man of Tomorrow, nor have we discussed it amongst ourselves at DC. In addition, truly, NONE of the names, from the six or seven I’ve seen rumored for a role, have auditioned or been discussed at all.”
“In general I’m just letting the silly rumors go – and this is certainly not the silliest I’ve heard recently – but Dave is a friend and that makes it more irritating. Btw I’m not blaming the poster here – I imagine this is coming from other places.”
The role probably is close to being cast and more reliable scoopers are saying that’s the case. However, the names you are hearing don’t seem reliable at this time according to Gunn. We shall see when the role gets cast.

Meanwhile we do have some DC related rumor for you. It’s been widely reported that ScarJo (Scarlett Johansson) is in final talks for a role opposite Robert Pattinson in The Batman Part II. What that role is, remains a mystery. Well… unless you keep reading anyway.
According to reliable insider Jeff Sneider, Johansson will be playing Gilda Gold, a.k.a. Gilda Dent. This may indicate an adaptation of ‘The Long Halloween’, or at least it being an inspiration. Though Gilda Dent certainly appears elsewhere, I don’t think you’d get Scarlett Johansson to play a minor role, so it tracks with TLH. I won’t spoil that story, it’s easy to access though if you care to spoil.
Sneider also says the film will be looking to cast Harvey Dent and his father Christopher. An actor on their 70’s being sought for the latter and an actor in their 40’s for the former.
Let’s see what happens with both of these DC castings as both movies develop. What do you think of this DC Studios news/rumor? Thoughts below
