Today we have a Guardians of the Galaxy 3 update from director James Gunn. A fan took a punt and asked Gunn for an update on social media. Before the replies telling this fan not to be daft had begun piling up Gunn actually replied. Check it out

Well done for chancing your arm @PortalGOTG. Interesting to hear from Gunn just where things stand. We have known for some time that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will shoot this year. Gunn is just finishing up work on his Peacemaker HBO show, however Guardians 3 is his next project. However, right now Gunn is likely swiping left and right on a bunch of designs his artists are coming up with based on his script and ideas. After all, he still has to finish post production on Peacemaker.

I do love Gunn’s “This. One. Is. Huge. I’m Excited.” From that quote along you have to think that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be pretty epic compared to the first two entries. It has been said by Gunn previously that Guardians 3 will be the end of the line for this iteration of the Guardians. I’ll be curious to see what Gunn does next after that. Will Gunn be hired for a new Marvel project, will he go back to DC, or will he do something completely different?

I always worried that Gunn was brought back just to finish his Guardians trilogy then moving on from Disney. Originally, before Gunn was fired previously, Feige had talked about how Gunn would help shape the cosmic side of the MCU going forward. I guess what I’m saying is this Marvel. Find out where Gunn wants to go next and if Guardians 3 is a success, give him the green light.
