James Gunn HAS discussed a DCU role for Henry Cavill. However it’s not the one rumored lately on the Barside Buzz. The DCU co-boss Gunn responded to claims that Cavill was being lined up for one of the lead roles on Creature Commandos, Frankenstein. Turns out Cavill is not up for that role. However Gunn says he has discussed another role withe the former DCEU’s Superman.

Its on various news sites & I was asked about it. You might consider that this bile you think comes off in my post has more to do with your framing than what I’m actually saying. I’ve said in the past we’ve discussed other roles with Henry – just Frankenstein is not one of them.

I guess the only role we can completely rule out is Kal-El/Clark Kent. So far Gunn and co-DCU chief Peter Safran have only revealed a small portion of what makes up Chapter 1 of the DCU. In fact, Gunn went on to say that so far they’ve revealed less than half.

Therefore, there should be plenty of room for Cavill. That’s if the actor has any interest in any of the roles being offered, which he might not?

Personally, I’m not so sure it is the best idea for Cavill to show up in another role. There are already plenty of rumors that Jason Momoa will play Lobo instead of Aquaman in the new canon. I’m not sure I want to see Cavill show up as Zod, or Ben Affleck as Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot as.. somehow still Wonder Woman.
Of course it all depends how the transition from the DCEU to the DCU is pulled off. I just think having more of a clean break, at least for a few years may be advisable. If the idea is to appease the very vocal minority of SynderBots by recasting their hero’s then I don’t like it. If it’s instead a case of the right actor for the right role, then my stance may soften.
