James Gunn says Guardians 3 is the end for him with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Asked if there was any chance of a fourth Guardians movie online, Gunn replied to a fan.

This initiates several follow up questions in my mind, though likely Gunn would not answer if we asked. Will the Guardians carry on in the MCU without Gunn. Will he work with Marvel Studios again, or was the deal just to be rehired for Guardians 3 alone? Lastly, what will he do next, take a break, go work for DC again?
It’s going to be a while yet before we know the answer to any of these questions. I hope Gunn will work with Marvel Studios again but who knows? Before Gunn’s initial firing I remember he was supposed to help shepherd in the cosmic side of the MCU going forward. However plans have most certainly changed since then and Guardians 3 was originally supposed to be coming out in 2020.

If Gunn nails The Suicide Squad for DC/WB, then I assume they would welcome him back with open arms. However that remains to be seen. Personally if Gunn does jump ship to DC permanently, I feel like Disney have made a grave error.
What do you think? James Gunn says Guardians 3 is the end, is it the end of Gunn at Marvel, or even the end of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the MCU? Let us know what you think is going to happen after Guardians 3 is in the can? As always, leave any thoughts below.
