The Guardians of the Galaxy films have been hugely popular since the first movie seemed to drop out of nowhere and amaze fans in theaters. In fact other than Avengers: Infinity War, I still think Guardians of the Galaxy is my favorite MCU movie.

We know that James Gunn is working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 right now and that the movie is due for release in 2020, exactly when in 2020 is still up for debate ( I bet May). However, with the events of Avengers: Infinity War being what they were, and some hints that the movie could be set before Infinity War chronologically (it’s a cunning lie for me), it’s left fans wondering about the fate of our favorite Galactic hopping rogues.
Now James Gunn has revealed through Twitter, that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the last iteration of this Guardians team. Here is the tweet itself,

Now, this could be interpreted in several ways, they could all be dead, they could all go their separate ways, or form into new teams? At this point, we really don’t know, but we do know that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is supposed to be the lead into the cosmic side the MCU will explore in the future. And James Gunn we know is going to be heavily involved with the cosmic Marvel stories going forward.
Your guess is good as ours for what happens to the original Guardians team, so feel free to predict away in the comments section below.
