In a recent interview, James Gunn teases possible Supergirl Krypton flashbacks and also reveals the uncredited role Jen Holland has in Superman. With Superman almost upon us, already talk is turning to the next DCU film, Supergirl. Speaking with ComicBook, Gunn doesn’t give much away, but his comments could suggest Supergirl has some Krypton flashbacks.
“[Flashbacks to Krypton are] always a possibility. But I think those things are really integral to the two characters and the differences between them, and that Clark really does have sort of this really happy childhood. I mean, he had parents who loved him in an easy-going upbringing, and it makes him the least dysfunctional of superheroes in so many ways.”
“And Supergirl, especially the DCU Supergirl, she’s kind of a mess. I mean, she’s had real issues growing up,” Gunn teased. “And it is based on the comic where she watched person after person after person dying in front of her as her piece of the planet disintegrated.”
Unlike with Superman, you get the feeling we need to see some of that backstory presented in Supergirl.

Gunn also revealed to the outlet that his wife Jen Holland has an uncredited role in Superman.
“You’ll know Jen Holland, my wife, is also the robot at the end, just not credited,” Gunn said. “I actually recorded her on my phone. I said, ‘Oh, I need a robot that’s not really interested in what Number 4 is saying.'”
You know the Gunn haters will be accusing him of nepotism again. Even though Holland has only appeared on screen in her Peacemaker character Harcourt, Gunn’s detractors often claim he casts her in everything, despite evidence to the contrary.
