James Gunn says he wants to work with his Guardians cast again and that he will do so, in the DCU! Gunn of course is currently putting the finishing touches to his last Guardians of the Galaxy movie and the last Guardians movie with this cast. Where things go from here for each character is unknown, however we do know where Gunn is going. James Gunn is now one of two DCU bosses tasked with reshaping and guiding that rebooted franchise for WB. That means no more Marvel movies for quite a while at least. However speaking with Empire Online, Gunn say’s he expects to work with all of his Guardians cast again in his new role, though perhaps more individually.
First Gunn talks about how for now, Guardians 3 is his day job. Yet, his second job also takes up a lot of time. I know how you feel Mr. Gunn.
Gunn describes the final stretch of Guardians Vol. 3 as “my day job” – while the early stages of planning a fresh batch of comic book movies at DC Studios is, for now, “a very healthy part-time job that’s at least another 40 to 60 hours a week”.
“This cast are like my family,” he says. “I cannot tell you how close I am to Chris Pratt and Pom [Klementieff] and Dave [Bautista] and Zoe [Saldaña] and Karen [Gillan]. But I also know I will work again with all those people individually again.” He adds, laughing: “Probably at my other job.”
I could definitely see a few Guardians carrying over into a new team. Who will remain and who will part, or die we’ve yet to know? However it’s nice for Gunn to say how much he’s looking forward to working with them all again. The whole cast are great and any one of them would be great additions to the new DCU. Let’s have two genuinely good comic book universes for once.
What do you think of his comments as James Gunn says he wants to work with his Guardians cast again and that he will do so, in the DCU? As always, leave any thoughts below.
