James Mangold In Talks To Direct Swamp Thing For DCU

According to a new report from THR, James Mangold is in talks to direct Swamp Thing in the DCU. Swamp Thing was one of the newly announced movies coming in the DCU from new bosses Peter Safran and James Gunn. No directors were named for any of the upcoming movies at the announcement. However the trade says Mangold (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny) is in talks to get back into the superhero business. Mangold of course directed Logan for Fox.

Here is what the trade had to say.

James Mangold may be trading in his whip for a trip to swamp country.

Mangold, who has Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny hitting theaters in May, is in early talks to be one of the first writer-directors to join James Gunn and Peter Safran’s roster of filmmakers at DC Studios.

Mangold is in discussions with the Warner Bros. arm to take on the feature adaptation of Swamp Thing, the supernatural horror-based hero who is a focal point in the first chapter of DC Studios’ slate.

To add to this, Though not confirmation, Mangold did perhaps tip his hand. Here is what was posted and then retweeted by James Gunn by Mangold following the DCU slate reveal.

I have no opinion on this choice for now. However let me explain why? I thought Logan was a good film, though not quite as good as some other felt it was. Mangold though is now in charge of a property which is very, very dear to my heart. If he pulls off a fantastic Dial of Destiny, I’ll be singing his praises. If not, well… I’m also not someone who ever spent much time with Swamp Thing in the comics, so I feel like I shouldn’t even have an opinion yet.

What do you think about James Mangold is in talks to direct Swamp Thing in the DCU? As always, leave us any thoughts below.
