Jamie Foxx All But Confirms Electro For Spider-Man 3

For some time now we have known about the potential casting of Jamie Foxx as Electro for Spider-Man 3. I think it’s been pretty clear that this was far more than just a rumor. Foxx even made some comments on social media which was quickly deleted. In other words, another poorly kept casting secret. However Foxx has been at it again, this time in a chat with Screen Rant.

Foxx towed the line with explaining he cannot confirm whether he is playing Electro or not, but then gave them a look which says, ‘course I am’.

“You’re absolutely right, I can’t speak on it. But if I’m in it, I’ll be so happy,” Foxx said, before giving a knowing look.

I’ve never been particularly excited by this casting for Spider-Man 3. I thought The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was an awful movie, and Foxx’s Electro was one of the negative parts. I’m supremely confident Marvel Studios will do a better job with Foxx than Sony did. Saying all that, the way Spider-Man 3 is shaping up does not fill me with much confidence. I get the feeling this is all being set up to have Tom Holland’s Peter Parker head over to the VenomVerse going forwards.

Frankly I prefer the smaller scale approach, building towards bigger things that we saw in both Homecoming and Far From Home. The idea of jumping straight into a Universe hopping amalgamation with previous Sony characters? As said, that prospect simply does not excite me as a viewer. I hope I’m wrong, I genuinely do. Far From Home was my favorite Spider-Man movie to date. Therefore, as someone less keen on the Sony movies, I don’t want to go back the way again.

Electro for Spider-Man 3 is about a sure thing as you’ll get without direct confirmation by Disney or Sony. What are your thoughts on Foxx’s return to Spider-Man? Do you have concerns like me, or excited to see him return?
