JD Pardo and Vinnie Bennett on Joining the Family for F9: The Fast Saga [Exclusive Interview]

For many years and for many films for Fast and Furious franchise, the theme of family resonates with the audiences. For actors JD Pardo and Vinnie Bennett, they joined this family cast and franchise by playing characters of the past in F9: The Fast Saga.

Here’s the official synopsis of F9: The Fast Saga:

Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) thought he’d left his outlaw life in the rear-view mirror, but not even he can outrun the past. When his forsaken brother Jakob (John Cena) unexpectedly resurfaces as an elite assassin, the crew comes back together to help Dom confront the sins of his own past and stop a world-shattering plot.

Franchise veteran Justin Lin returns to the director’s seat for F9 from the screenplay written by Daniel Casey and Lin. The rest of the cast includes Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Finn Cole, Sung Kang, Anna Sawai, Helen Mirren, and Kurt Russell.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta sat down with actors JD Pardo and Vinnie Bennett at the F9 Fest fan celebration on the backlot of Universal Studios. We talked about how they received their news to join the franchise, getting behind the wheel, and now being part of this family. Vinne Bennet played the younger version of Dom Toretto while JD Pardo played the race car driving father Jack Toretto.

JD Pardo currently plays the lead Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes in FX’s Mayans M.C. He appeared in numerous television series, including Nate/Jason in NBC’s Revolution, FOX’s Drive, The CW’s Hidden Palms, and The CW’s The Messengers. He had a role in Lifetime Network’s A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story, and The Burning Plain that also starred Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron, and Kim Basinger.

Vinnie Bennett is a New Zealand actor, who previously shot the New Zealand TV series The Bad Seed for director Helena Brooks. At the Toronto International Film Festival, he was named 2017 Rising Star for his performance in the feature film Human Traces about a young man’s arrival to a remote sub-Antarctic research station. His previous credits included Resolve, Filthy Rich, Dreamworks’ Ghost in the Shell, MTV’s Ghost in the Shell, and BBC America’s Tatau.

F9 is available with two versions of the movie with the theatrical cut and the extended director’s cut. There is more all-new bonus content.

It is available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on Tuesday, September 21 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The film is already available digitally today.
