Jeff Goldblum Open To Returning As Grandmaster, But Has Heard No Concrete Plans From Marvel

This past year has been a pretty solid one for actor Jeff Goldblum. The vet has made his mark on two big films that include Thor: Ragnarok and the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom — and that’s not even mentioning the smaller films like Isle of Dogs that he did with Wes Anderson. Goldblum is one of those actors who, despite not being an action hero or even a leading man, has still managed to stay wonderfully relevant.

His turn as the Grandmaster in the latest Thor flick. The character himself is kind of a horrible being. He’s spoiled, entitled, and incredibly unhinged. But in spite of all that, there is something oddly endearing and charismatic about him that Goldblum brings to the table (and he’s an amateur DJ, which is always a plus). Goldblum also reprised his role in the comedic short, “Team Darryl,” which saw the cosmic being taking up residence with Thor’s old roommate.

But can we expect to see him down the line in another Marvel flick? Goldblum certainly seems game, as he revealed to LRM‘s own Gig Patta in an interview.

“I love doing that [the Grandmaster]. Taika Waititi is a great director. We improvised a lot. I love Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and lots of the people with Marvel. I’d love to do anything with them. I don’t know. I haven’t heard any real concrete talk about a movie that might improve the Grandmaster.”

So while he seems more than willing to don the sparkly gold clothing again, there are currently no plans that he knows of. That being said, with the end of Phase 3 approaching in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is a lot about the world that’s still up in the air.

Keep an eye out for our full interview with Goldblum later this week!

So who knows? I’d certainly be up to seeing more of the Grandmaster’s antics. What about you? Let us know if you want to see more of the character down below!
