Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye was absent entirely from Avengers: Infinity War, the only reference to him, was a comment that he took a deal to be with his family. However, we know Hawkeye comes back to join the team again in Avengers 4. Many fans have predicted that the events at the ending of Infinity War may have had an impact on his own family, leading him to re-join the fight against Thanos.

While the other Avengers were filming Infinity War, Renner was filming Tag, an action comedy about a group of friends who play a cross-country game of tag against one another for years. It’s also been known for some time that very early into that shoot, Renner had an accident with some chairs and broke both his arms, ouch.

In an interview with EW, Renner was asked how having two broken arms affected filming of Avengers 4, seen as his character Hawkeye primarily uses a bow. Here is what Renner told the outlet:

“It’s sort of like a battle of my will to heal as fast as I possibly could, I did therapy just painfully everyday and I was able to get through it all as best as I could, what else do you do, you just stop and cry and everyone go home? You know what I mean? I’d be like, ‘sorry guys, I’m not going to use a bow and arrow now in Avengers,’ it’s silly, so I have to kind of push through so that you can perform for everyone.”

Renner is completely healed now and we all know what they say about show business, the show must go on. So thankfully Renner bore the pain to get through the Avengers 4 shoot, as I couldn’t have handled a delay in next years guaranteed (by me) number 1 blockbuster.
