JK Simmons Attended The Spider-Man: Far From Home Premiere, Does That Mean Anything?

One of the things that’s been missing thus far from the MCU version of Spider-Man for me has been the absence of J. Jonah Jameson, who was last played by actor JK. Simmons in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy. Fans have been wondering for a long time now whether JJJ would be recast with a different actor, though most would concede that anyone taking on this role would struggle to deliver something as memorable as JK. Simmons portrayal.

As far as we know Jameson does not appear at all in Spider-Man: Far From Home, though of course, it doesn’t release till next week in most territories. However, we have heard that the newspaper The Daily Bugle is mentioned in the movie, so is Jameson ever going to be recast? No idea on that front, but what is interesting to me is that actor JK. Simmons was actually at the premiere of Spider-Man: Far From Home, check out the tweet from Aaron Couch below.

Now, this could simply be a courtesy type of thing, but I cannot help but wonder whether Marvel has actually done what the fans wanted and brought back Simmons in probably his most iconic role? Maybe I am reaching too far with that one, but a man can have hope eh? Even if Jameson doesn’t appear in this movie, I’d be a happy fan to see Simmons back in the role for the seemingly inevitable Spider-Man: Homecoming 3. Initially, there was the problem of Simmons currently playing Jim Gordon for the DCEU, but now that Matt Reeves is taking The Batman back to his younger days, it seems unlikely Simmons will remain in the role of Gordon.

In my opinion, if they haven’t done so already, Marvel Studios should be phoning him and asking him to come back to his most famous role. I’d totally accept this is a different Jameson with a different Spider-Man, I just want to see him chew that scenery again as JJJ. As of right now, I believe only two of the LRM team have seen Spider-Man: Far From Home and they are being told to keep very quiet until next week when the rest of us get the chance to catch up. I’m sure our Fantastic Mr. Fox Troilo will be reviewing the movie soon in a non-spoiler fashion, so I wait to see what he thought of the movie. Other critics seem to be very happy with the movie, so all things are looking good. If JK Simmons does somehow appear in the movie at any point, it’ll be the icing on the cake for me.

What do you think, would you like to see Simmons back as J. Jonah Jameson, or would you prefer them to recast the role to someone else going forward? Shout out your ideas in the usual spot below as always.
