Captain Marvel Will Bridge The MCU’s Earth And Space Worlds Together

We still have over two years before we get the standalone Captain Marvel film featuring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, the very first female led superhero movie for the MCU. DC will bring us Wonder Woman before this film drops, but this first female led film is actually a huge deal in the Marvel world. Up until now we have mainly had Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, and Gamora as female “superheroes.” We don’t know much about how she will be tackled in the film, or what her overall story will entail, but we have confidence it will be a great ride.

However, we do know that she will be a part of Avengers: Infinity War, thanks to a casting call list. To this point, the Guardians of the Galaxy (space side) and The Avengers (Earth side) have been separate entities, but now thanks to a Yahoo! Movies interview with Larson we know that she will close the gap between the two. She had this to say:

“Well, quite simply, she’s kind of like the bridge between these two worlds. She’s the bridge between what’s happening up in space and what’s happening down on Earth.”

Guardians of the Galaxy created characters that have become immensely popular to the comic book community, even from readers, like myself, that never gave them a chance before the film. The Avengers have always been popular, and to find a way to bring these worlds together will be pure greatness.

But how will she do so? Let’s take a look at her comic backstory.

In the comics has a long backstory that started way back in 1968 in Marvel Super-Heroes #13. Since then she has been Ms. Marvel, Warbird, Binary, and has taken on a number of other roles before finally being imbued with the Kree-based Captain Marvel’s powerset, which is immense, around the time the original Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) died. I will not spoil this, but the story is convoluted, and if you are a Marvel comic’s fan, it is one to be explored. Recently she even kicked Iron Man’s butt and put him into a coma.

However, the question that must be asked, involves how she will get her powers in the MCU.

Will she get her powers in Infinity War? One must assume that there will be a Kree that will imbue her with powers, and it has been rumored that Mar-Vell will be in a MCU movie, but at this point we can only speculate. For all we know, the post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will show here receiving her powers, but it could also be in the first scene of Infinity War, or she may not even get her powers until her standalone film — maybe from the Infinity Gauntlet.

Whatever happens we have a load of great Marvel movies coming up that could tie the two worlds together. Are you excited to see Captain Marvel? Let us know!
