Joe Russo Confirms Sony’s Venom Movie Is Not A Part Of The MCU

You may have heard there is a Venom movie coming from Sony on October 5 this year.

Now it would fair to say I am less than excited by the prospect of this movie. In fact, you may remember reading my angry rant about this whole Venom thing a while back. If not, feel free to catch up HERE.

One of my main gripes about the Venom movie is the fact that it was rather muddy on whether this movie had anything to do with the MCU. After all, we have heard rumors of a Tom Holland cameo for some time and yet it has been pretty obvious to us fans that there was no way Marvel would allow Sony to connect their own stories into the MCU at large.

Yet, even in the aftermath of Avengers: Infinity War I have heard fans express wishes that the creatures who made up Thanos’ army in the attack of Wakanda may be some sort of symbiotes. Thus the hope that Venom in any way links into the MCU still runs through the fandom.

Well, we finally have confirmation to put all that talk to bed.

In a high school Q&A, Joe Russo was asked about Venom amongst many other things and here is how it went down.

Student: “I have two- is the new Venom movie going to be in the MCU?”

Russo: “No, that’s a Sony property”

That pretty much clears up the fact that Venom will, as expected have nothing to do with the MCU. Now we can all move on and join me in collectively scratching your heads at the collective wisdom of Sony’s decision makers.

Now, maybe some will say I’m not giving Venom a chance, well you are correct, I give it no chance. However, I am man enough to say that if Venom ends up being celebrated by fans, I will publish an apology to Sony.

Sound off below as always.
