John Cena In Negotiations To Star As Duke Nukem?

Oh, Lord, what world are we living in? Gamers from the 1990s will likely remember the somewhat controversial video game character, Duke Nukem. He was a character whose games were characterized by violence, sex, and misogyny, and while all that is true, the game Duke Nukem 3D was a lot of fun, especially if you were in that very specific 12-ish age range, which adores sex and violence.

Sadly, Duke Nukem hasn’t really lived up to that name since then, and the oft-delayed Duke Nukem Forever was eventually released in 2011 (15 years later), only to disappoint fans. I thought this would be the end for the character, but it looks like that’s not the case.

THR is reporting that wrestler-turned-actor John Cena is in negotiations to star in an adaptation of the franchise. There is currently no writer or director on board, but as soon as this deal is inked between Cena and the studio, it looks like they’ll begin searching for a writer to develop the script. As such, it looks like Cena has reached that point in his career where films are being developed around him as an actor.

Under the right direction, this could be a fun movie, but it’s also one that could be destined for the bargain bins right out of the gate. What do you think of Hollywood making a Duke Nukem film with John Cena? Let us know your thoughts down below!
