“Dwayne Who?” I’m sure that’s exactly what Fast & Furious lead Vin Diesel is hoping audiences will say when Fast & Furious 9 opens in theaters next year. He and co-star Dwayne Johnson had a famous falling out while on the set of The Fate of the Furious, and on the heels of that, Johnson took Jason Statham and hopped in his own spin-off in the form of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. But what does that leave the core franchise? After all, even Michelle Rodriguez’s involvement seems questionable.
Well, Diesel and co. are certainly hoping to fill the void. Diesel first hinted at the idea of adding former wrestler John Cena to the mix this past April, but it was pretty silent in the months since then. Take a look at that video below:

But now, Universal has confirmed that the Bumblebee star will officially be joining the street-racing, building-hopping, nitrus-inducing series next year. What is his role? Deadline is only hearing that he’ll be “a badass.” Okay, I guess they don’t have enough of those in the series, so why not?
Fast and Furious 9 is set to be helmed by veteran franchise director Justin Lin (who helped sink the franchise in Tokyo Drift before bringing it back to greatness with the fourth, fifth, and sixth entries), and he will be directing a screenplay from Dan Casey, who drafted it based on his own story.
