This weekend has saw fans questions whether The Mandalorian Season 3 was coming, or whether The Book of Boba Fett was taking over. Honestly, it was a big drama over nothing, and some over excited reporting didn’t help. LRM’s own source at Lucasfilm told us not to worry. We were told that The Book of Boba Fett would be out prior to The Mandalorian Season 3. In fact we were told that Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy only mentioned the next chapter of The Mandalorian would be out Dec, 2021.
Funnily enough, John Favreau said almost the same thing when he appeared this morning on GMA.

“We didn’t want to spoil the surprise during the big Kathleen Kennedy announcement of all the shows [during Investor Day earlier this month], so they let me keep this one a secret, ” Favreau said. “So this is actually separate from The Mandalorian season 3. But what we didn’t say in that announcement is the next show coming up — what Kathy called ‘the next chapter’ — is going to be The Book of Boba Fett, and then we go into production right after that on The Mandalorian, back with the main character that we all know and love … pretty soon following that.”

It’s pretty evident that this was the company line. The Book of Boba Fett airs December, 2021, After that (probably January) we get The Mandalorian. The production for Mando S3 will begin after TBOBF.
So finally, we can put to bed some of those silly scaremongering rumors that The Mandalorian was over. The Mandalorian Season 3 is happening, and it is happening after The Book of Boba Fett. Just as LRM already exclusively revealed. I can’t wait to see what is next up for Din Djarin, but before that we have The Book of Boba Fett to look forward to.
