According to the latest Barside Buzz, John Malkovich is to play villain Red Ghost in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The information comes form the less prolific (these days) leaker Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Multiverse.
Check out what Charles has heard;
‘This week, I heard that Malkovich is playing Marvel Comics’ villain and twisted genius Ivan Kragoff. First introduced in January 1963’s Fantastic Four #13, Kragoff is better known as the Red Ghost, a recurring foe of Marvel’s First Family who often used his army of Super-Apes to aid him in his plans.’
I could actually see this film having several villains whom we will never see again in the 616 Universe. Mole Man is already rumored, many fans thinking Paul Walter Hauser is playing him. However, that is absolutley not confirmed at all. I actually forgot Malkovich had been announced by trades as cast in this film. If he is indeed playing Red Ghost, then I doubt much screen time will be kept for these ancillary villains when the meat of the tale seems to revolve around Galactus’ arrival. I could be very wrong on that front. Maybe all the villains try to help the FF defeat Galactus as this world has no other heroes?

I’ve used the same image Murphy has in his article for the header. Mainly because I think that tells you everything you need to know about who Red Ghost is from an image alone. Hardly one of my favourite villains back in by comic book days, but still enjoyed those stories.
As always, this is just a rumor until conformed but despite less scoops these days Murphy is still pretty solid in terms of hit rate.
