Joker: Joaquin Phoenix Sports A Maroon Suit In A Cemetery

DC is back in the news, for good reasons. While Marvel is riding the wave into their next two films; Avengers: Infinity War 2 and Captain Marvel. DC seemed to have gotten lost in the maze of movie politics during the race to get their heroes to assemble on the big screen.

Recently, however, DC has been collecting a lot of goodwill. Of course, Aquaman is nearing its release, but you also have movies like Shazam! and Wonder Woman 1984 that many people are looking forward to. But that’s not all. In a curveball move, the studio has also gone forward with a standalone Joker film that takes place outside of the established DC Extended Universe. Of course, this film stars Joaquin Phoenix, and in recent weeks, we’ve been seeing lots of set photos and videos of the actor taking on the Clown Prince of Crime, and in the latest batch, you can see them working on a cemetery scene.

I sure am digging that maroon suit. So far everything with the film screams fresh. The numerous set photos and footage have certainly been wetting my palate to see this alternate take on the clown prince of crime. Good god, October 4, 2019 can’t come soon enough. Us comic book fans are living in the golden age. Who would’ve thought we’d have not one but two actors playing the Joker in films that are as tonally different as night and day?

What do you think the context of the scene is? Could it be later or earlier in the film? The mystery might make us all a little mad. It sure is shaping up to appear DC has caught itself a whale. With early reviews spouting how Aquaman may be DC’s second-best film, behind The Dark Knight. It certainly looks like Joker fits right into the grounded Christopher Nolan universe. Though we’re still a long way until Joker releases on October 4, 2019. DC has managed to hook me with their idea of basically making movies like comic books currently run. In that universe where there are multiple takes on a character by different writers and artists.  I for one am looking forward to the next piece of news from the Joker.
