The Joker film from Todd Phillips is currently in production, and with that, you bet your ass there have been photos and videos galore captured from the set. The paparazzi can’t help themselves and we can’t help sharing them. From all we’ve seen, we’ve been able to piece together some semblance of a story of a man who is down on his luck. Then, he suffers one bad day that sends him into a tailspin that will eventually lead him to become Gotham City’s most notorious criminal.

That’s basically the synopsis we’ve been able to fashion together based on everything we know, including some of the source material storylines. But what is the film actually about? Well, luckily, Warner Bros. has released a guide for the 2019 slate, and in it, they have a synopsis of the film, which is set to hit on October 14, 2019. Take a look at it down below.

“Joker centers around the iconic arch-nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. The exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.”

So based on that synopsis, I think we were pretty much right on the money with our expectations. However, if you don’t like the sound of that synopsis just yet, fret not. This is just a rough synopsis for a preview. Once they actually set out to actively market this film to the public, I’m sure they’ll pretty it up to be a little less on-the-nose and cheesy.
