You never know where you’re going to find success. Back in 2010, the science fiction disaster film Skyline was released. Despite negative reviews from critics it still managed to make $68 million at the box office against a $10-$20 million budget. Writer for Skyline, Liam O’Donnell, went on to direct the sequel Beyond Skyline in 2017. When it comes to science-fiction films, you just never know the stories that are going to captivate audiences.
Now in 2020 O’Donnell is back for the third installment in the franchise titled, Skylines. Taking place after the events of the sequel, a virus now threatens to turn the earth-dwelling friendly alien hybrids against the humans. Now Captain Rose Corley, played by Lindsey Morgan, has to lead a team of elite soldiers on a mission to the alien’s world in order to save what’s left of humanity.
Joining Morgan as part of the Skylines cast is Jonathan Howard, Rhona Mitra, Alexander Siddig, James Cosmo, Cha-Lee Yoon, and Daniel Bernhardt. O’Donnell also served as a writer as well as the director.

The third film in the franchise, it is put together very well. Despite the fact that I have not watched the first two films, I was able to enjoy Skylines on its own. It had great pacing and fun action sequences that get the job done.
In what O’Donnell calls “an old-fashioned space adventure”. Skylines we are introduced to the character named Leon, played by Jonathan Howard. His character goes through quite the journey alongside Captain Rose. Ahead of its release this week, LRM Online had the opportunity to talk with Howard about his character. During the interview, we also talk about what it was like to work on the film. As well as his thoughts on the rest of the cast. Be sure to check it out below!
