The big names keep hopping on board director Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. Now, Variety is reporting that Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 star Josh Brolin is set to join the ranks of the sci-fi film based on the Frank Herbert novel of the same name.
Brolin will be joining the likes of Timothee Chalamet, Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, and Charlotte Rampling. As of this writing, other big names attached are Oscar Isaac and Zendaya. So, yeah, it’s clear that Brolin will be in fairly good company for this flick.
The role he is set to play is that of Gurney Halleck, a mentor for the lead character. This was the part occupied by Patrick Stewart in the 1984 David Lynch adaptation, which received…dare we say mixed results from both book and science fiction fans.

Honestly, I’m continuously astounded whenever we get another big name in the mix. Don’t get me wrong, I think Villeneuve is easily one of today’s most exciting filmmakers out there, but given how much of a bomb his latest sci-fi outing, Blade Runner 2049, was — and how much this movie could be potentially be compared to that one, I’m shocked the studio is still letting this one go forward.
