While we do have a good number of movies from Warner Bros. set in the DC Extended Universe on the way, we still don’t have a solid grasp on how and if these movies will actually connect with one another. James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad may very well change completely everything about what we’ve seen in the franchise, and for all intents and purposes, it seems like DC Films is ready for each movie for the foreseeable future to be a kind of a standalone projects (so no more of character arcs being stretched out over multiple films).
However, things are still a tad bit confusing regarding films like Birds of Prey and Batgirl. In April of last year, following the departure of Joss Whedon from the project, it was announced that Christina Hodson would be taking on writing duties. It was noteworthy that she also had a hand in Birds of Prey, so many believed that Barbara Gordon would be involved in both films in some capacity.

However, according to a new report from Forbes, that is not the case. The outlet states that these films “will not be tied together.” This was apparently based on the rumors surrounding Gordon’s involvement in both stories, which is a premise I find a bit faulty. We already know that Cassandra Cain will be in the movie, so wouldn’t it make more sense for them to go with her in a Batgirl movie? I dunno, just throwing it out there.
But are you surprised not to see Barbara Gordon in both movies? Let us know your thoughts down below!
