Lots of Barside Buzz this week is saying that Josh Brolin has been offered the role of Hal Jordan in the DCU’s Lanterns. This is just a rumor and it was began first by Nexus Point News. However, ViewerAnon came out to say they heard the same thing, and then Jeff Sneider mentioned it on his latest The Insneider Newsletter. Here is what NPN had to say.

“We have exclusively learned that Josh Brolin has been offered the role of Green Lantern Hal Jordan in DC Studios’ HBO series, Lanterns. This version of the character is described as a Lantern legend and will be a veteran member of the Corps. White actors in their forties and fifties were being looked at for this role until it was determined that Brolin was the top choice for the role of Hal Jordan.”

I already know some fans are unhappy at Hal and Jon Stewart being veterans. However, for me, I think it fits with the older Guy Gardner we have in Nathan Fillion. I’d rather watch Brolin and fellow veterans in Lanterns than I would a new young actor I’ve never heard of. Though, I doubt Brolin comes that cheap, but who knows?

As for Sneider he had some additional information to add on top of backing up the Brolin story. Sneider says that DC Studios met with director Stephen Williams [Watchmen, Lost and more) to potentially direct the pilot episode. Williams has worked many times before with Damon Lindelof who is one of the producers and writers on this series. Though, there’s no guarantee they made a deal based on Sneider’s info. 

I like the idea of veteran Lanterns. Brolin and Fillion are already a great potential combo. However, who could they get for Jon Stewart to make the right trio? Someone in their 50’s seems the best bet, to fit. Sadly, I’m not thinking of anyone off the top of my head. Help me out below if you have any good ideas for actors that would fit with Brolin and Fillion.
