It’s been a couple years since Jurassic World hit theaters, and in the time since then, audiences have been wondering just where in the world they can actually take a sequel.
The first film managed to successfully inject new blood into the franchise, actually showing a functioning dinosaur theme park for the first time in the series. However, now that that’s been done, and the dinosaurs have overrun said park, where do they go next in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom?
EW has the first plot details. Here’s what they are.
“Directed by J.A. Bayona, the sequel — set several years after 2015’s billion-dollar smash Jurassic World — concerns a volcano on Isla Nublar that threatens the dinosaurs that had overrun the park at the end of the previous film. Who has the best shot at preventing the prehistoric beasts from becoming extinct (again)? That would be Chris Pratt’s dino trainer Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard’s former park manager Claire Dearing.”
Actress Bryce Dallas Howard delved more into the plot details, saying:
“Claire’s founded an organization, Dinosaur Protection Group, and they’re finding a way to get these dinosaurs off the island. She reaches out to Owen Grady to let him know this is happening. When you see them at the beginning of this story, you get caught up as to what’s going on. But it’s not what you would necessarily expect.”
So it looks like they’re finding a way to preserve these dinosaurs after they’ve taken over. This leads us to wonder just what in the world is endangering these giant reptiles this time around? There were hints at militarizing the beasts in the last film, but this doesn’t sound like it’s leading into that approach.
We have to address the fact that it sounds like Claire and Owen’s relationship didn’t work out after the first film, which we can get on board with. Hopefully they don’t bother shoehorning in another romantic story this time around, but concerning how Hollywood that first film is, we think that’s unlikely.
Finally, EW also had an exclusive photo. CLICK HERE to check it out.
From the looks of it, this is the other side of the shot we saw in one of the teasers, with the barynonyx dinosaur creeping through the pipes.
