Justice League Will See The ‘True Superman’

I’ve been a defender of Zack Snyder’s portrayal of Superman for quite some time. Unlike most DC fans, I have absolutely no problem with the more conflicted take on the character by actor Henry Cavill. Sure, it may rub many the wrong way to see our beloved Man of Steel weigh the possibility of letting people die, but I’ve always thought it made for a rounded, interesting character.

I was never completely against the idea of a more traditional Superman down the line, but loved the idea of actually letting the character EARN that outlook on life. After two movies of uncertainty, it sounds like Superman fans will finally be getting the “Boy Scout” character they’ve been pining for in Justice League.

Speaking with EW, Cavill said:

“Geoff [Johns] and I have been delving into the history of the character to get to the core of who Superman is. This is the first time we see the true Superman. The Superman who is confident, and sure, and full of hope and joy.”

Even as someone who loved the more layered version of the character as portrayed in the DCEU, I’m actually excited to see this. After seeing his uncertainty in the past two films, from death, I find it much more believable that we’d end up with a Man of Steel with a brighter outlook on life.
