Karl Urban And Laz Alonso Are The Real Heroes In The Boys [Exclusive Interview]

The Boys, Laz Alonso and Karl Urban return for more Superheroes ass kicking. The Boys season two now on Amazon Prime! Along with Hughie (Jack Quaid), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara).

Check out Amazon Prime to watch season one of The Boys. Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios produce the show along with Point Grey Picture, Kripke Enterprises and Original Film. This show is based on the comic book series of the same name written by Garth Ennis.  The Boys incorporates vigilantes trying to expose and bring down the superheroes created by a powerful corporation named Vought International. Vought International markets the Supes as heroes but in reality is they are arrogant, corrupted beings. This clan of Supes includes Homelander (Antony Starr), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell).

In season one Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) is trying to form the group, The Boys. Butcher lives in rage not knowing who is behind his wife’s Becca Butcher (Shantel VanSanten) disappearance. He lives determined to find out who is behind it. A new Supe, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) joins the Seven. Her image of the Supes shatters as she uncovers their real persona. In the middle of her disappointment, she meets one of The Boys, Hughie. They open her eyes to far more truth and helps them by exposing Compound-V. Not everything goes as expected at the end of the first season. The Boys are on the run by the law and the Supes. However, Butcher does see his wife!

In season two The Boys return trying to regroup themselves to continue fighting back against Vought. Butcher is on the mission to save his wife. The Seven gets a new Supe, Stormfront (Aya Cash). Stormfront comes in with her own plan leading to a clash among her peers. She becomes center stage as she seeks to manipulate the nation with paranoia. How will the other Supes feel about this?

Karl Urban hails from New Zealand. His parents expected him to follow in his father’s footsteps and work in leather goods manufacturing but had other things in mind. His first television appearance was at the age of eight and made a return to the stage in high school.  Urban’s biggest roles have come from The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Star Trek playing Dr.Leonard “Bones” McCoy.

Laz Alonso graduated from Howard University School of Business.. He worked on Wall Street as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch. The Cuban-American, Washington, D.C. native always knew he wanted to be an actor. Alonso started in theater in the city of New York and is known for Avatar, Fast & Furious and Detroit for films. Alonso’s television credits include Deception and A&E’s Breakout Kings.

I had the great opportunity to speak with Laz Alonso and Karl Urban via Zoom about The Boys. We discussed the ending of season one and how season two is going bigger. Urban said season two is like season one, but on Compound-V.  I couldn’t agree more!
