There are very few filmmakers tasked to make a kids comedy. Director Kel Thompson stepped up to the role in creating The Terrible Adventure.
The film is an adventure itself. Thompson has two of his own children starring in this new independent feature film that utilizes several locales in Florida. It balances the action and comedy from both children and adults. Best of all, it is a clean, family-fun film that is a rarity in today’s business that only seeks out for the bottom line.
Here’s the synopsis:
When tasked with taking ‘action’ by an elementary teacher as a summer project, two bright, affluent, and spoiled siblings, Olivia and Jackson, face their Dad’s bankruptcy and parent’s divorce by attempting to win the most complicated contest of all time. Created by billionaire Bill Bob Branson, the contest is used to cultivate the world’s greatest talent to seed a special task force and head up a non-profit organization to address global issues such as climate change, pollution, and world peace—with a cash prize of $1,000,000. The contest is initially designed for adults, however, the siblings are able to solve the first clue of the contest which opens the portal to the first of many of their wild adventures.
The film stars Thompson’s own kids—Olivia (9) and Jackson (12). The rest of the cast included the adults Santo Curatolo (Witness Protection), Ciro Dobric, and Ron Beau Phillips.
