We all knew there would be casualties with Avengers: Endgame. Leading up to the release of the film, speculation and debates occurred hypothesizing which of our beloved characters would meet their demise. Natasha Romanoff is one of those characters. Marvel is known for their extensive planning in order to progress their phases. Their streaming shows have also brought in more story in order to help fill gaps. The newer area fans are looking forward to is Marvel branching into the prequel format. Black Widow is a character with a vague background. Combine that concept with the fact that her character is dead, the prequel is a wonderful route to go in order to help fill in the gaps for fans. Especially when it is such a well-liked character such as Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow. Could the Marvel prequels route happen for other characters?
President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, discusses the possibility of more Marvel prequels in the MCU.
“Well, certainly this film and this story is a particular case for Natasha, but the notion of exploring the past, present, and future of the MCU is certainly in the cards for all of our characters. This particular story, this particular cast, is very personal, very specific, to Natasha.”
Let’s be real. They can do it all. Marvel prequels will be another feather in their cap. While Feige focuses on Black Widow, the door looks open for the exploration of other backstories for characters.
